It was
built in 1150 AD by the Byzantine Emperor Mamouil Komninos. It is unique
in its kind. The temple is full of murals from the 12th and 13th century, that
constituted a turning-point in the history of Byzantine Hagiography. It is
monastery dependency of the Historical Abbey Virgin Mary of Varnakovas. The
visitor can visit this prominent monument that is 2 km away from the seat of the
Municipality of Evpalio and can rest in the beautiful landscape with the dense
plane trees near the torrent of “karioti” with the abundant crystal water,
which springs from this region.
