In the
basement of the residence of Gerolimatos there is the only found inscribed
mosaic in Amfissa, whose interpretation of the representation was first
attempted by Ant. Keramopoulos: "A terrified manikin, who holds a stick,
runs to the left chased by a crane. The representation is funny, as the
sign declares: "ΣΧΟΛΗ ΜΗ ΤΟ ΔΡΕΙΛΟΝ". With these words the manikin begs the
crane not to hurt his phallus. A second sign, opposite to the previous one,
which is parallel to the foundations that obviously destroyed the
representation, declares: "ΒΟΙΘΕΙ ΠΑΠΑ". Obviously the same manikin hunted by
the crane asks the help of his father. Given the plumping ditch that adjoins the
floor; we suppose that in this spot there was a gymnastic or a wrestling
institution. However, it is more possible that it was a bathroom or the atrium
of a villa.
